Zaiqing Yu, Vice President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and Thomas Bach, President of the IOC, hold the painting "Glorious Journey" gifted by artist Jiannan Huang
Tokyo, Japan. 7th August, 2021. The 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics was the first worldwide gathering since the pandemic began in March 2020, and culminated with the closing ceremony on August 8th, 2021. Although it lacked the huge fanfare and crowds of previous Olympics, it will be among the most remembered in history. “For the first time since the pandemic began, the entire world came together,” IOC President Thomas Bach said. “Sport returned to center stage. Billions of people around the globe were united by emotion, sharing moments of joy, and inspiration. This gives us hope. This gives us faith in the future.”
In honor of the completion of Olympics 2020, artist Jiannan Huang gifted a painting called "Glorious Journey" which was presented to the President of the International Olympics Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, by Vice President/Executive Board member, Zaiqing Yu on August 7th, 2021 in Tokyo, Japan. Jiannan Huang is a well-known artist in China who has been creating a special series of Olympics paintings. He is the Overseas Art Advisor for the 2022 Beijing Olympics "Cheering for the Olympics" Committee, and has been participating in many Olympics charity events.

"Glorious Journey" by Jiannan Huang
Huang's oil painting "Glorious Journey", was inspired by watching Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. It shows a dreamlike world in rich colors, expressive brush strokes, textured layers, and conveys an underlying theme of beauty and excitement. According to Huang, it is meant to symbolize the enthusiasm of people all over the world. The red mountain ridges around the lake are heralded by the blue mountain peaks in the distance which have an interesting mix of dimension, shape, and texture. The flowers blooming brightly in the foreground are meant to symbolize the great competitive spirit of the athletes and their aspirations to climb the highest mountain peaks and achieve their dreams of greatness.

"Olympic Flowers" presented by artist Jiannan Huang to Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympics Committee.
This is the second painting presented by Jiannan Huang to the International Olympics Committee. Previously, on September 16, 2019, Bach met with Huang in Beijing, China, and Huang presented a gift of his oil painting "Olympic Flowers." Huang said, "My Olympic oil painting series are a tribute to Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympic Games, and a tribute to the Greek civilization and Chinese culture that advocates peace and human well-being." Huang feels that his paintings are not only meant to integrate art, sports, and the Olympics, but to also integrate the elements of traditional Chinese art, culture, symbolism, and meanings.

"Olympic Light" by Jiannan Huang (2021)
"The light of the Olympics shines on the glorious journey!" Huang said of his painting "Olympic Light". "I am in Beijing in my studio, but enjoying watching the Olympics and promoting the Olympic spirit. Faster, higher, stronger, and more united. I have added 'beautiful and better' to the foundation, demonstrating the perfect integration of sports and art." Huang said that the combination of culture and sports fits the ideals advocated by the International Olympic Committee. I hope to show the spirit of the Olympics to the world through my art works, spread the spirit of the Olympics, and continue to cheer for the Olympics!

You are not white clouds,
Why bring the rain after the blue sky?
You are not the wind and rain,
Why in your fog scattered above all the beautiful scenery?
You are not pine,
Why always in the trees in the upright posture?
You're not the light,
Why are millions of lights always behind you?
Haze of haze, far away from your shadow, close to your thoughts, far and near to the wind around your scattered phantom;
You are not Paris,
Why do you always let people smell the elegant atmosphere from there?
You are not a fashion,
Why in the arrangement of photos I can always find you?
You are not a story,
Why in a few words with a stirring melody hidden?
You're not a melody,
So why do I always hear beautiful songs when you're gone?
Haze of haze, muffled your white, around your flawless, muffled around the flower blossom fall and your bulrushes like beauty ...
You are not thunder, nor lightning, you are not green mountains, nor water, not the great curdling...,
But why do you leave a long memory after your sadness?
Haze of Haze ...!

The LA Art Show 2021 completed its special summer edition and was one of the first events in Los Angeles to return live with artists, galleries, art dealers, collectors, and art lovers wearing their masks and surrounding themselves in art at the Los Angeles Convention Center. It was a socially distanced and masks-required event with limited attendees allowed, giving more space for visitors to walk around and see the show. Despite the restrictions, the attendees included many serious buyers with art sales doubling over last year.

The Rose Memorial featured roses made by people from the different communities of Los Angeles, and was created to be a symbol of resilience and healing from the pandemic by artist Marcos Lutyens. The Los Angeles Convention Center once served as a field hospital for COVID patients, so it was especially significant as an entrance and portal to the LA Art Show 2021.
The show was opened by the Mayor of Los Angeles, Eric Garcetti, and featured a surprise guest on closing day, former Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Citibank provided virtual tours with four selected galleries and their artists in a theater-style exhibit area. Visitors could either sit in socially distanced chairs or stand in the back area to enjoy the program. The featured galleries included Simard Bilodeau Contemporary, Caldwell Snyder Gallery, Pigment Gallery, and Rebecca Hossack Gallery.

Some artists and visitors who were unable to travel due to the travel restrictions, such as LABA Blue-ship artist Jiannan Huang, participated in interviews by video conference and were able to see some of the show live by cell phone.
