Rosana Largo Rodríguez Celebrates Paredes de Nava at Times Square in New York

Rosana Largo Rodríguez appears on billboard screens for the Museum of Stories and Science in Times Square, New York City, New York

New York City, New York, USA. 6th May, 2024. On April 22nd, as people passed through Times Square in New York, they were greeted with captivating images on large billboard screens created by international artist Rosana Largo Rodríguez. Celebrating Paredes de Nava (Palencia, Spain) and the Museum of Stories and Science (Museo del Cuento y de la Ciencia de Paredes), Rodriguez paid tribute to the Spanish poet Jorge Manrique (15th century), Spanish Renaissance painter Pedro Berruguete, and his son Alonso Berruguete, one of the most important sculptors of the Renaissance (15th - 16th centuries). Paredes de Nava is located in the heart of the Palencia region of Tierra de Campos, a historic town in Spain, famous for being the birthplace of Jorge Manrique, Pedro Berruguete, and Alonso Berruguete. It is also home for the Museum of Stories and Science where Largo is the museum director.

Set against the backdrop of Paredes de Nava, there were two images that appeared starting at 10:00am in Times Square. One image features Largo wearing a dress she designed and in the background is the majestic figure of King David by Pedro Berruguetes standing behind her; and in the other image, she is featured with a statue of Jorge Manrique by Alonso Berruguete, which is a monument statue located in Paredes de Nava. Jorge Manrique, whose father was the first Count of Paredes de Nava, wrote the poem, "Coplas a la Muerte de su Padre" (Verses on the Death of his Father) which remains one of the most famous poems in Spanish history.

Largo and her artistry have appeared in Times Square in the past, but this time she wanted to celebrate Paredes de Nava and share some of its rich cultural heritage with the rest of the world.
