Artist Xia Yang Joins the Los Angeles Beverly Arts (LABA) Biennial International Art Festival
Artist Xia Yang
Xia Yang, a native of Hanzhong, Shaanxi, China. Her artwork focuses on the harmonious coexistence of humans and nature, ecological civilization, and high-quality development, with a thematic emphasis on humanistic sentiments and the endangered bird species "crested ibis" in her hometown. She has won numerous international and domestic awards for her art and has been selected for exhibitions hosted by the China Artists Association.
Yang currently serves as the director of the Qinling Ecological Culture and Art Research Institute of Shaanxi Dehong Culture and Art Communication Co., Ltd.; executive director of the Beijing Changfeng Painting and Calligraphy Institute; researcher at the China Oriental Culture Research Association; and head of the Xia Yang Painting and Calligraphy Studio of the China Oriental Culture Research Association.

Yang is a member of the China Artists Association; visiting scholar at the China National Academy of Arts; member of the Chinese Couplet Association; member of the Chinese Gongbi Painting Society; member of the Chinese Women Painters Association; member of the Beijing Gongbi Heavy Color Painting Society; researcher at the Chinese Landscape Painting Research Institute; senior national art (calligraphy) teacher with advanced professional titles from the Ministry of Culture; senior art trainer; member of the Shaanxi Artists Association; member of the Shaanxi Calligraphers Association; contracted artist for the China Education Television’s “Ink and Color” and “Master Lectures” programs; member of the Ink and Color Painting and Calligraphy Academy; national guest artist; honorary fellow of the Harvard Academy of Art; founder of the Gongbi Ibis Painting in Chinese Gongbi Bird-and-Flower Painting, and inheritor of Ibis culture; director of the Hawaii International Federation of Cultural Curators and Art Association. Some of her works have been recorded on Baidu Baike and Artron Art Auction.

Yang's artistic training includes tutelage under Professor Su Baijun of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, doctoral supervisor at the China National Academy of Painting, former dean of the Chinese Painting Institute of the Chinese Academy of Arts, and professor at the China Media University; Professor Lu Yushun, dean of the China Landscape Painting Research Institute and director of the Beijing Artists Association; mentor Chen Keyong, dean of the Chinese Landscape Painting Research Institute and director of the Beijing Artists Association; Professor Xiao Wenfei, academic director of the Chinese Calligraphy Institute of the Chinese Academy of Arts under the Ministry of Tourism and Culture; Professor Ni Jinxing, vice president of the Chinese Couplet Association, director of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, and vice chairman of the Calligraphers Association of Central State Organs; and Yang Lin, member of the China Artists Association, national first-class artist, and founder of Jiang Cai Painting.
Research Directions: Chinese Painting Art, Chinese Gongbi Bird-and-Flower Painting, Gongbi Ibis Painting, and Research on Relict Gull Painting.

Exhibitions and Achievements:
"Golden Autumn Liangjiahe" won third prize in the "Glory and Dreams - Commemorating the 95th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China" employee painting, calligraphy, and photography exhibition by People's Daily Online.
August 2017: "Writing the Lotus with a Mad Pen" was selected for the National Chinese Painting Exhibition hosted by the China Artists Association.
September 2017: "Sunset" was selected for the "Freehand China: Great Beauty Liaoning - The Second Chinese Ink Painting Exhibition" hosted by the China Artists Association.
October 2017: "Frosty Red Again" was selected for the 2017 National Chinese Painting (Freehand) Exhibition hosted by the China Artists Association.
2017: Assistant lecturer in the painting and calligraphy creation workshop of the School of Art, Renmin University of China, under the mentorship of Yin Mingshang.

March and April 2018: Organized and held the "Ink and Color - The Fragrance of Shaanxi Fruits" and "Ink and Color with Strong Apple Aroma and Shaanxi Sentiment" painting and photography exhibitions in Beijing and Nanjing, invited by the Provincial Agriculture Department and the Provincial Fruit Industry Bureau. Works "Autumn Song" and "Peace Map" won awards, and she received the Outstanding Contribution Personal Organization Award.
June 2018: "Rainbow in the Rain" was selected for the Sixth National Youth Art Exhibition.
July 2018: "Wind Turns Ink Waves and Dragons Fly" was selected for the "Source - First Chinese Painting Exhibition" hosted by the China Artists Association.
2019: The "Autumn Rhythms Grape Series" of Chinese paintings won the "Harvest Award" in the "My Harvest, My Festival - 2019 China Farmers Harvest Festival Series Theme Collection and Evaluation Activity."
June 2019: Published a paper on the ingenious use of soy sauce ink colors in Chinese painting in the Chinese Literature and Art Magazine.
December 2020: The "Seeking" piece from the Life's Home: Crested Ibis series was selected for the "Ink Painting New Rhythm, Together Toward a Moderately Prosperous Society" excellent works exhibition hosted by the Women Calligraphers and Painters Working Committee of the Chinese Calligraphers and Painters Association and was exhibited at the Beijing National Cultural Palace Exhibition Hall.
January 2021: Invited to attend the Chinese Ink Painting Spring Festival Gala of China Education Television, honored with the "Ink and Color - Calligraphy and Painting Art Inheritance Award."
April 2021: "Childlike Heart, Children's Rhyme" was selected for the 2020 Xiamen National (Small-scale) Gongbi Painting Biennale.
April 2021: Calligraphy work won the Special Gold Award in the Fifth National "Chinese Cup" Poetry, Calligraphy, Painting, and Seal Cutting Art Competition.

November 2, 2023: Participated in the "Ecological Hanzhong - Beautiful Ibis" 2023 Ibis Culture Exchange Event in Hanzhong, Shaanxi, organized by the Shaanxi Forestry Bureau, the Shaanxi People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and the Hanzhong Municipal Government, and created more than 40 works focused on the Ibis.
November 7, 2023: Successfully rolled out a painting exhibition tour and donation ceremony at the Heidaotian Yangzhou Academy in Shaanxi, featuring the Life's Home Crested Ibis series with the theme "Recreating the Elegance of the Ibis and Reviving the Original Flavor of the Fields."
December 2023: The "Ibis Moon Together" piece from the Life's Home series was selected for the 14th Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition Collection of the Great Wall Painting and Calligraphy Association and exhibited in Beijing.
December 8, 2023: Participated in the "Qinba Scroll - Lingxiu Tea Town" exhibition tour, hosted by the Xixiang County Cultural Center, Xixiang County Museum, Xixiang County Calligraphers Association, and Xixiang County Artists Association, for a month-long exhibition of Yang Xia's works.
