LABA Attends the 78th Annual Directors Guild of America (DGA) Awards

Los Angeles Beverly Arts (LABA) members and guests at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills


Beverly Hills, California, USA. 7th February, 2026. The 78th Annual Directors Guild of America (DGA) Awards were held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. TV host Joey Zhou, founder of the Los Angeles Beverly Arts (LABA), and director/filmmaker Harrison Engle, LABA Board member, attended the event and celebrated at the after-party with the winners and guests. The DGA awards ceremony celebrates the directors in television, documentaries, and commercials. Special awards are given to those of outstanding service and lifetime achievement to the DGA.


Actor/comedian Kumail Nanjiani hosted the ceremony with an audience of more than 1,000 guests. The evening’s top prize, the award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Theatrical Feature Film had five nominees, and went to Paul Thomas Anderson for the film One Battle After Another. Other winners included Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg for The Studio, Amanda Marsalis for The Pitt, Shannon Murphy for Dying for Sex, Liz Patrick, SNL50: The Anniversary Special, Mstyslav Chernov for 2000 Meters to Andriivk, Stephen Chbosky for Nonnas, and Charlie Polinger, The Plague.

The presenters included (in alphabetical order): Emily Bader, Sean Baker, Patrick Ball, Yvette Nicole Brown, D’arcy Carden, Timothée Chalamet, Taylor Dearden, Paul W. Downs, Leonardo DiCaprio, DGA Associate National Executive Director/Eastern Executive Director Neil Dudich, Jacob Elordi, Lukas Gage, Ginnifer Goodwin, Kate Hudson, Jim Jenkins, Michael B. Jordan, Michael Keaton, Adam Scott, Rhea Seehorn, Kerri Kenny-Silver, Steven Spielberg, Charissa Thompson, J Rupert Thompson, Kerry Washington, and Olivia Wilde.

Associate Director/Stage Manager David Charles was the recipient of the Franklin J. Schaffner Achievement Award, which recognizes extraordinary service to the industry and the Guild, and Commercials 1st Assistant Director Gregory G. McCollum was the recipient of the Frank Capra Achievement Award, which is given in recognition of notable career achievements and for outstanding service to the DGA.
