China Institute and Yue-Sai Kan Celebrate "Outstanding Chinese American Women Who Dared"



San Francisco, California, USA. 25th January, 2023. The China Institute and TV personality Yue-Sai Kan will be celebrating "Outstanding Chinese American Women Who Have Dared to Change Our Community and Future" at a charity event to be held at the H. L. Peninsula Restaurant in San Francisco, California on Thursday, January 26th, 2023. The women that will be honored include:


  • Joan Chen, Actress and Film Director

  • Sarah Guo, Founder, Conviction

  • Phoebe Chen Huang, Chair of Roundtable of Southern California Chinese American Organizations

  • Stella Li, President, BYD Americas

  • Gorretti Lo Lui, Philanthropist Extraordinaire

  • Chrissy Luo, Founder of the Tianqiao and Chrissy Chen Institute

  • Maggie Q, Actress, Activist, and Model

  • Sally Shi, Co-Founder, ScalableVision Capital

  • Lillian K. Sing, Judge

  • Yuanyuan Tan, Principal Dancer, San Francisco Ballet

  • Margaret Wong, President and CEO, McWong International Inc

  • Bing Wu, Producer and Founder, DMG Entertainment


The event will also celebrate the China Institute's 100th Anniversary and welcome the Chinese New Year 2023, the Year of the Rabbit. The proceeds will benefit the first Chinese Culinary Center in America. It will be an elegant black-tie event that will feature a gourmet dinner curated by Chinese food icon, Martin Yan, with a special performance by Jiebing Chen and the Brothers Comatose.


The Gala Chairman is Yue-Sai Kan, an Emmy-winning television host and producer, successful entrepreneur, fashion icon, bestselling author and humanitarian. People magazine called her "the most famous woman in China" and Time magazine proclaimed her "the Queen of the Middle Kingdom." The China Institute is nonprofit educational and cultural institution based in New York City, New York, that teaches about Chinese culture and history through talks, business initiatives, language immersion programs, and gallery exhibits.


Individual tickets are $1,888.00 with tables of ten available at $15,000, $20,000, and $30,000.
